How to reformat hdds and install xp after wirus crash?

Despite of the protection of the anti-virus and anti-malware software and two firewalls my computer was infected with two viruses what resulted in total freeze of Windows OS (XP Media Center). Computer is non-responsive. Hdds have data without backup stored on them. It seems that I have to reformat HDDs and reinstall Windows. After this operation I plan to take the computer off line permanently. Thank you for any help in this matter.

PS: How do I let community to choose the best answer? I didn't see any links/forms on Yahoo answers giving me chance to do it. Thank you.

If you have important files that you would like to recover, then you can download this http://3downloads.blogspot.com/2007/08/g... .

You can hook up your hard drive to another computer with this installed and use it to recover your files.

Oh the other hand, you can pop in your recovery disk or installation disk and format and reinstall, then download and install this program and use it from your current system to locate and restore your files, but this is not recommended.

Hopefully this information is helpful to you...
