NORTON internet security 2008!help needed?

i`ve just installed said security,and now i have a wee red sheild with a white `x` init,when i click on this it says i`ve no anti-virus or spy ware protection,yet when on norton security center it tells me i is protected but i don`t have any malware turned on and that won`t turn on no matter what i do,any ideas would be gratefull as i`m getting more pissed by the minute wi this `effing computer...........

The easiest way to resolve this problem is to properly uninstall and reinstall the software. Please follow the steps below to properly uninstall and reinstall.

1. Click on the following link to download the Norton Removal Tool:

2. After you run the tool, please restart your computer. Then log in to Windows again and run the removal tool again. Restart your computer after it is finished running the second time as well.

3. Make sure that your internet connection is working properly, and then reinstall Norton Internet Security 2008. Towards the end of the installation process, the LiveUpdate feature will automatically run and download and install updates to both the program files and definition files.
