Please please can you help me re: PC and virus/ internet problem?

I have a windows Vista - 7 months old. I only had the free trial Mc Afee for a month, and i have left it otherwise. I noticed it was going a bit funny, so I downloaded a Kaspergers or whatever it is - another free trial .Then my internet completely stopped. So my internet provider suggested that I delete all anti viral software, and take up their free software.

But... after deletion I still cannot get the internet and i am worried as i have no protection at all now.

As for virus/spyware protection:

I use these programs to clean friends computers.

It helps speed up the system and usually

works every time unless there is some very unusual virus on the system.

Not to be a smartass.....but if you can't get onto internet, you have no need for any protection!!

Seriously, I also agree with the choices of spyware given by previous answer. But if you still can't get onto internet, then you need to take it up with your provider. You did as they suggested, and it still isn't working!!
If it came with the computer, go to the place where you bought it, or find the disk that it came with.
